Queen of Heaven Church Holy Week services Easter Sunday, March 23, Masses at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. Divine Mercy Sunday Divine Mercy Sunday will be celebrated by Catholics March 30. The celebration will begin at 2:30 p.m. with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the singing of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, Benediction and veneration of the Divine Mercy Image. Community breakfast A Sunday Community Breakfast has been set for April 6 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and first Sunday of each month. Breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage and accompaniments. Cost -- Preschool children $2, all others $4 Ladies Guild The Ladies Guild will meet April 9 and on the second Wednesday of each month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 5 of the Parish Life Center to build vibrant, lasting Christian relationships through spiritual fellowship, service and social works. Our Lady of Victory Church Easter Sunday, March 23:, special schedule: 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Masses. Attendees are advised to arrive early to secure a seat. The church is located at 73 North Ave. Tallmadge Lutheran Church Easter service Tallmadge Lutheran Church, 759 East Ave., will observe Easter with services at 7:30, 9 and 10:30 a.m. An Easter breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 10 a.m. All are invited to participate. Church collecting gently used goods for Katrina survivors A gently used furniture and appliance collection will take place at Tallmadge Lutheran Church, 759 East Ave., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 4 and from 9 to 3 p.m. April 5. Members of the church who went on a mission trip to New Orleans last June were inspired to organize the furniture drive. The first, which took place late last summer, was so successful they decided to do it again. Furniture, appliances, dishes, pots and pans will be accepted as long as they are in good condition. No clothing will be accepted at this time. The items will be transported by semi to Camp Restore in New Orleans. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is sponsoring the event. Tallmadge United Methodist Church Tallmadge United Methodist Church, 207 Munroe Road, will welcome Easter with a sunrise worship service at 7 a.m. conducted by the Youth Fellowship. A continental breakfast will follow at 8:15. Both of the 9 and 10:35 a.m. Easter worship services will feature flowers and music. Other events at the church this week: * March 24 -- Quilters, 6 p.m.; Mary-Martha Ciircle, 7. * March 25 -- Bible study on Jeremiah 50-52, 7 p.m. * March 26 -- Study on Jesus, 10 a.m.; Chancel Choir, 7 p.m. * March 27 -- Men's devotions and work group, 8 a.m.; Dorcas Circle, 9; adult games night, 7 p.m.; On-Line Ringers, 7:15. * March 30 -- Confirmands join church during the traditional service at 10:35 a.m.; all-church spaghetti dinner fund-raiser by the Youth Fellowship, 11:45 a.m. Unity Chapel of Light to host monthly dinner, movie Unity Chapel of Light, 503 Northwest Ave., is launching a monthly pasta dinner, followed by a free movie screening, beginning March 25. The public is invited and reservations are not required. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and will include pasta with marinara or meat sauce, salad, bread, beverage and dessert. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors. The movie, "You Can Heal Your Life: the Movie," based on the best-selling book "You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise L. Hay, an internationally known metaphysical lecturer and publisher, is free and will begin at 7:30. Families with infants are welcome to view the movie from the church's "quiet room." Child care and an age-appropriate movie will be provided for children ages 3 and older. Those interested may visit Unity's Web site at www.unitychapeloflight.org for driving directions and information on upcoming dinner/movie evenings and other church activities. Unity Chapel of Light is a Christian-based community, based on the practical application of the teachings of Jesus Christ, which views all people as living expressions of a loving God. Unity respects all religious beliefs and creeds, believing that all spiritual paths can lead to God. Sunday services are scheduled at 9:30 and 11 a.m., with Sunday school and child care offered during the second service. "What it means to be Catholic" is the topic for the next "Come and See" meeting at 7 p.m. April 1 in McKeever Hall of St. Martha Parish, 300 E. Tallmadge Ave. in Akron. The speaker will be Joyce Kelleher, former secretary for Catechesis for the Diocese of Cleveland. Following the presentation, there will be small discussion groups to address a variety of subjects including the speaker's topic, prayer, the Sacraments, Bible basics, dealing with illness and bereavement, and divorce, annulments and remarriage. The monthly "Come and See" programs are sponsored by the Summit District parishes of the Diocese of Cleveland. They are intended for people who have questions or concerns about the Catholic faith or for anyone who wants to learn more about the church and its teachings.
