Tallmadge -- On March 28, a Newton Street woman told police she has recently received anonymous letters in the mail in regard to her leaving her dog out of doors. According to the report, she told police sometime between 11 p.m. March 27 and 6 p.m. March 28, someone damaged her chain link dog kennel. Damage was estimated at $550. Theft March 26. Stolen gasoline paid for: An employee of an East Avenue business told police around 4:30 p.m., someone drove off without paying for $50 worth of gasoline. The owner of the vehicle was contacted, and restitution was made March 27. According to the report, the vehicle was being driven by a relative of the owner at the time of the alleged theft. March 25. Catalytic converter removed from van: A Kennedy Road business owner told police sometime between 5 p.m. March 20 and 7 a.m. March 21, someone removed the catalytic converter from her delivery van while it was parked at the business. Damage was estimated at $300. March 25. Wrenches removed from business: An employee of a Southeast Avenue business told police about 4 p.m. a patron left the store without paying for $150 worth of wrenches. According to the report, the individual may be the same one who removed similar items a month ago. Police are investigating. Criminal damaging March 27. Graffiti, epithets painted on building: An employee of Midway Plaza told police sometime between 6:30 p.m. March 26 and 6 a.m. March 27, someone painted the rear of the structure with gang graffiti and racial epithets. Aggravated assault March 29. Akron man charged for alleged assault: Police arrested an Akron man and charged him with alleged aggravated assault after his girlfriend, a Tallmadge resident, called police around 3:30 p.m. to report he had punched and choked her while she was trying to get into her truck. According to the report, she was trying to lock herself in the truck to get away from him. The report states her boyfriend said "I'm going to kill you." Officers reported they have been to the residence before for similar reports. According to the report, the woman told police her boyfriend threw his keys at her, hitting her in the face. A cut was noted on her upper lip by officers. Prohibition March 29. Juveniles cited for prohibition: Police cited Sparta juvenile and a Canton juvenile for prohibition after officers observed the two drinking beer in a vehicle parked on Brittain Road at 12:52 a.m. Editor's note: Police News is a sampling of reports filed with the Tallmadge Police Department during the previous week.
