Chamber to host annual
Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast

The Tallmadge Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast May 26 from 8 a.m. to noon at the community center, 80 Community Drive.

The cost for adults is $6. The cost for children between the ages of 4 and 10 is $3. There is no charge for children younger than 3.

The breakfast includes unlimited pancakes, as well as sausage, orange juice, coffee tea and milk.

The annual Memorial Day Parade will step off at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church on North Avenue on May 26. Formation begins at 9:30 a.m.

Water Works pools passes available
to residents at discount for 2008

Tallmadge residents who'd like a pool membership this summer can get a Cuyahoga Falls Water Works Family Aquatic Center membership at a discounted rate.

From May through September, one pass will cost $94, two will cost $177, three passes will cost $254, four passes will cost $331 and a pass for five or more people will cost $360.

The rate is only good for Tallmadge residents in 2008.

Proof of residency will be required. A birth certificate is needed for any child ages 3 and over when purchasing a pass.

Passes may be purchased at the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium, 2345 Fourth St., or by calling 330-971-8080.

Safety School offered in June

Safety School will be conducted June 16 through 20, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m., at Overdale Primary School, 90 W. Overdale Drive.

Children will receive daily safety lessons, color and listen to speakers from the Tallmadge police and fire departments, as well as other agencies.

Sponsored by the Tallmadge police and fire departments, Safety School is a unit in safety education for all children who will attend a kindergarten class (public, private or home-schooled) in Tallmadge for the first time in August.

A morning and afternoon session will be offered. All classes will take place in the Overdale Primary School gym. Registration will be limited to 50 students per session and will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Registration forms are available in the lobby of Tallmadge Police Department, 53 Northeast Ave. Completed forms must be returned to the police department by no later than noon June 13.

Historical Society to host 150th annual dinner, meeting

The Tallmadge Historical Society will host its 150th annual dinner and business meeting at 6 p.m. May 10 in the Erie Station Grill dining car, The Rose.

Reservations are required for dinner and seating is limited to 48. The cost is $14.50. Checks may be made payable to the Tallmadge Historical Society.

A short video presentation titled "The last train ride through Tallmadge" will follow the business meeting.

Poker tourney to benefit Little League

The Tallmadge Little League will host a No Limit Texas Hold'Em Poker Tournament May 10.

The tournament will take place at Tallmadge Community Center, 80 Community Road. Sign-in begins at 5 p.m.; the tournament will start sharply at 6 p.m.

There is a $50 entry fee, which includes the tournament, food and beverages. Unlimited re-buys are $30 for the first hour.

For those wishing to attend but not play poker, the cost is $20.

Leaf compost available to residents

Residents may pick up leaf compost free of charge at the John Westren Municipal Service Center, 210 Osceola Ave., weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The facility will be closed Sundays and holidays.

Both wood chips and leaf compost will be available. Leaf compost may be picked up at the Summit County Fairgrounds seven days a week.

Delivery is available for those residents who wish to stop at the Treasurer's Office in the lower level of the Municipal Building, 46 North Ave., to fill out an application. A fee of $30 must accompany the application.
