by Amanda Harnocz Reporter Tallmadge -- Stow resident and Tallmadge dentist Dr. Samuel Kaludy was charged July 22 with three counts of deception to obtain dangerous drugs, according to Summit County detectives. Cuyahoga Falls Sgt. Perry Tabak, of the narcotics division, said Kaludy was using another doctor's name to fill prescriptions at local pharmacies. Kaludy was not available for comment, according to his office's staff. No one else was charged in conjunction with the incidents, and the doctor whose name Kaludy was using was unaware his name was being used, Tabak said. The three charges, which are fifth-degree felonies, stem from three different times that Kaludy allegedly filled a prescription for Lorcet, a pain treatment drug, according to Tabak. Lorcet combines the narcotic pain reliever hydrocodone with the pain reliever acetaminophen. "I don't believe the prescriptions were for his practice," Tabak added. Kaludy has an office on 45 Metric Drive in Tallmadge. Kaludy had two, 30-count prescriptions filled and one 25-count prescription filled at local pharmacies, Tabak said, adding one of the pharmacies was a Drug Mart on Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls. "We got a call from a pharmacist that thought something was suspicious -- we investigated after that," Tabak said, adding his department continually checks through prescription records to prevent similar things from happening. Kaludy had no plea on July 22 and was held on $25,000 bond and the case was sent to the Summit County Common Pleas Court. E-mail: aharnocz@recordpub.com Phone: 330-686-3911 Comments
