The Tallmadge boys cross country team placed 11th with 301 points at a 15-team Division I district meet Oct. 18 at Goodyear Heights Metro Park in Akron.

The top six teams advanced to regionals. Green won the competition with 63 points and Cuyahoga Falls (101) and Hudson (104) placed second and third, respectively.

Other qualifying teams included Brecksville-Broadview Heights (105), Stow-Munroe Falls (123) and Revere (133).

Revere's Julian Meyer placed first out of 112 runners with a time of 16 minutes, 3.63 seconds. The top 24 runners advanced.

That means the Blue Devils did not have a single performer at the Tiffin Regional, which was scheduled to take place Oct. 25.

"The competition at this meet was the best I have seen since I have been coaching," Tallmadge head coach Jeremy Huth said.

Tallmadge junior Travis LeVan missed qualifying by less than 16 seconds as he finished 33rd with a time of 17 minutes, 40.06 seconds.

Junior Jesse Batko (65th, 18:41.15), seniors Kevin Murphy (66th, 18:45.1), Kyle Webb (68th, 18:50.33) and Brian Phillips (69th, 18:52.36), junior Dan Enos (69th, 18:56.85) and senior Derek Harden (77th, 19:03.1) also competed for the Blue Devils.

Other seniors included Nick Freeman-Clark, Cory Breedlove and Aaron Spencer.

"Our seniors have done an excellent job this year guiding the team in the right direction," Huth said. "Each of them brings a different aspect to the sport. Their dedication to the program will impact the future of Tallmadge cross country.

"We graduate seven seniors this year," he added. "We have some shoes we need to fill for next year."
