Warriors Journey Home Ministry of First Congregational Church of Tallmadge will host a week of activities focused on the community's response to post traumatic stress disorder resulting from war. Dr. Edward Tick, founder of Soldier's Heart, in Albany, N.Y. is an international speaker and author of "War and The Soul" will be present at all events as the workshop leader, retreat leader and speaker. The week's itinerary follows:

* Nov. 9: Warriors Heat & Soul Retreat -- Listen -- Speak -- Heal is a time for healing and reconciliation and will be led by Tick, Kate Dalstead (Soldier's Heart) and the Rev. Dr. John Schluep, senior pastor of First Congregational Church and founder of Warriors Journey Home Ministry, and members of WJHM, at First Congregational Church, 85 Heritage Drive. Reservations are required. The program is open to everyone, especially military veterans. Call Nancy at 330-633-4931 for reservations.

* Nov. 11: Tick will deliver the keynote address at the Tallmadge Veterans Day event on the Circle. Information on the exact time will be available at a later date.

* Nov. 12: Tick will lecture at Youngstown State University through the Religion and Philosophy Department. Call Nancy at 330-633-4931 for a specific time and location.

All events are free and open to the public; however registration is required and there is a suggested donation to help Warriors Journey Home Ministry offset expenses and continue their work with the community. The week is made possible through the generosity of the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation.

"War affects each one of us at a deeply spiritual and soul place. Not only does military service and war affect changes in the veteran, but their family and community as well. It is in coming together as a community that we can do the deep soul care necessary to bring healing from the wounds of war," said Schluep, adding, "When the veteran finds healing the community can heal through their leadership. Our programs take place in a non-political, non-partisan and non-sectarian environment."
