Oliver places first at fitness event Megan Oliver, a 2007 Tallmadge graduate, received the overall first-place trophy at the National Physique Committee Natural Northern USA Drug-Tested Bodybuilding an Figure Championships Oct. 4 in Lakewood. She competed against nearly 60 other contestants to win an 8-foot trophy and a photo shoot with a professional photographer. She will appear in numerous publications, including: Ironman Magazine, NPC News, Muscle & Fitness, MUSCLEMAG International, Flex and Muscular Development. Oliver took part in other competitions this year as well. She placed first at the Cincinnati Bodybuilding Championships earlier this year in the 19-and-under category. Oliver also placed first in her class at the Mid-Atlantic competition Sept. 13 in West Virginia. Later the same month, she finished fourth in both the Ohio State and Great Lakes Bodybuilding Championships. Duo inducted into Hall of Fame Former Tallmadge head softball coach Don Duffy and 1999 Tallmadge graduate Kendra Brownlee were inducted into the Summit County Softball Hall of Fame Oct. 26 at Guy's Party Center in Akron. Duffy, who first joined the Lady Blue Devils softball program as an assistant coach, guided Tallmadge to more than 200 wins and two state titles during his 11-year (1996-2006) head coaching career. All told, Duffy was part a Lady Blue Devils' squad that won 541 games and won six of its seven state championships during his 23-year career. Duffy coached Brownlee, who played shortstop for Tallmadge. She was a four-year starter and was a member of the 1997 and 1998 championship teams. Brownlee also was an outside hitter for the volleyball team and a guard on the basketball team. Brownlee guided all three teams to the state final four eight times during her stellar four-year career. Hoops teams needed The Hudson Community Education and Recreation Men's 30 and Over Fast Break League features an eight- or 12-team league playing at Hudson High School, plus a single-elimination tournament to determine the league champion.
