CLIFFORD ALBERT SPENCER JR.

World War II U.S. Army veteran

Clifford A. Spencer, Jr., 89, died May 12, 2009.

Born in Akron, Mr. Spencer resided in the Akron area most of his life, enjoying a long and successful career in the golf industry. He retired as general sales manager from Golf Pride Golf Grips. One highlight of his career was regripping the golf clubs of the late President Dwight D. Eisenhower and playing golf with many pros around the world. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Spencer is survived by his wife of 61 years, Violet Wanita (Hill) Spencer of Tallmadge; sons, Clifford A Spencer III of Akron and Chris A. (Kathleen) Spencer of Tallmadge; grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Spencer, Craig (Sarah) Spencer and Allison Spencer; great-grandchildren, Alden and Ashley Spencer and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to Pilot Dogs c/o Cuyahoga Falls Lions Club 1752 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223.

Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
