Typically, it takes hard work, automotive ingenuity, and good old-fashioned mechanical know-how to have one of the display vehicles showcased on the window turntables at the Summit Racing Retail Super Store in Tallmadge. But generosity, compassion, and luck are the only things required to own both of the cars currently on display at Summit Racing: a 1967 Corvette Roadster and a one-of-a-kind, 2009 Hero Edition ZR-1 Corvette.

The Corvettes are on display to promote the "2009 Corvette Dream Giveaway Benefiting Kids Wish Network," a national children's charity. The Corvette Dream Giveaway will award both of these rare and exciting vehicles to one lucky winner in a raffle-style prize drawing Dec. 25. Net proceeds will be used to fund Kids Wish Network's Hero program, which recognizes and helps children in pediatric hospitals all over the country who have overcome traumatic and life-changing circumstances with courage and spirit. Enthusiasts can get a look at the Corvettes at the Summit Racing Equipment Retail Super Store through Aug. 23, then order raffle tickets for the cars between now and Dec. 22, by visiting www.winthevettes.com or calling a live operator at 866-WIN-BOTH (866-946-2684). The winner will be notified by the Kids Wish Network on Christmas Day.

"The Kids Wish Network Corvette Dream Giveaway combines great cars with an even greater cause, so we're pleased to be involved as a sponsor of this exciting program," Jeff Winters, Summit Racing Equipment chief marketing officer, said. "We're thrilled to have the Corvettes on display in our retail store and would love to see both cars find a permanent home in Northeast Ohio when the winner is drawn in December."

The fully restored 1967 Corvette Roadster convertible features a 390 horsepower 427 cubic inch engine, Tuxedo Black paint with red "stinger" on the hood and a four-speed manual transmission. The 2009 Hero Edition ZR-1 Corvette is the fastest General Motors production Corvette of all time. It features a 638 horsepower supercharged LS9 engine that makes the car capable of reaching speeds in excess of 200 miles-per-hour.

The Kids Wish Network is a national charitable organization that fulfills the wishes of children ages three to 18 suffering with life-threatening medical conditions or exceptional circumstances as determined by medical professionals. The organization brings millions of dollars worth of toys, books, games, entertainment, celebrity visits, and a much-needed break from medical treatment to children in hospitals across the country. Its gift bank program provides hospital emergency rooms, pediatric wards, and other children's care facilities with age appropriate gift bags and offers a much needed distraction from often traumatic experiences. The Kids Wish Network also provides funeral assistance to the families of "wish kids" who have passed away.
