CHARLES 'CHIC' SAMUEL WATKINS
World War II Navy veteran, avid golfer
Charles "Chic" Samuel Watkins, 87, died Jan. 5, 2010.
Born in Spindale, N.C., Mr. Watkins lived in Tallmadge since 1958. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired in 1978 from the Coco Cola Bottling Co. with 49 years service. He was a member of New Horizons Christian Church, where he served as an elder. He was an avid golfer.
Mr. Watkins is survived by his wife, Joy Elizabeth; son, Kim (Sherry) Watkins of Hartville; grandchildren, Christopher of Kenton, Jonathan of Cincinnati, Amy and Travis Watkins of Hartville; great-granddaughter, Allison Johanna Watkins of Kenton; sisters, Wilma Sebastian of North Ridgeville and Lois (Alan) Westcott of Florida; brother, Norris (Sybil) Watkins of South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews
Memorial donations may be made to the New Horizons Christian Church, 290 Darrow Road, Akron 44305.
Donovan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
