Unity Chapel of Light to host 2010 Life Path Conference

Unity Chapel of Light will host the 2010 Life Path Conference Feb. 3 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Authors and speakers Robert Schwartz, Louis Charles, Laura Lyn and John Davis will offer lectures on various motivational topics. Organizers say the Life Path Conference aims to help participants to a new viewpoint on how to affect their lives and the planet for the better.

Keynote speaker Schwartz will discuss the concepts explored in his book "Your Soul's Plan," in which he relates how and why individuals plan their greatest challenges before they're born. Davis will teach God does not want followers, He wants creators.

Participants will also learn ways to create a joyful life in the present moment. Lyn will discuss the chakra system and present a healing meditation. Charles will expand on the concept of oneness. In addition, Jacob Laughingfox, Native American style flute player, will offer interlude music. To close the day, the panel of speakers will answer questions from the audience.

Breakfast and lunch are included in the $100 ticket price.

Church Women United to meet Feb. 5

Church Women United of Cuyahoga Falls, Tallmadge, Stow and Munroe Falls will resume their monthly meetings beginning Feb. 5 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 2121 Sixth St., Cuyahoga Falls.

Miriam Everhart will present a program on antique valentines. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome to attend.

Church Women United is an ecumenical Christian women's movement, celebrating unity in diversity and working for a just, caring and peaceful society.

Methodist Church to host Sweetheart Brunch after combined worship

Tallmadge United Methodist Church, 207 N. Munroe Road, will host its 23rd annual Sweetheart Brunch on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14.

Sponsored by Methodist Men to honor all women and girls of the congregation, the brunch will take place following a combined worship service starting at 10 a.m.

Famine Overnighter

The church's senior high and junior high youth groups will are planning a Famine Overnighter at the church Feb. 19 and 20.

Annual Solemn
Eucharistic Devotions

Annual Solemn Eucharistic Devotions have been planned for Jan. 31 through Feb. 2. The opening devotions will begin Jan. 31 with the 11 a.m. Mass and procession. Adoration follows the Mass and continues until a vesper service (evening prayer), with candlelight procession and benediction, Feb. 2 from 6 to 6:45 p.m. The Rev. Matthew Pfeiffer, parochial vicar of St. Sebastian Church, will be the guest speaker at the closing service. A free pasta dinner follows in the Parish Life Center from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for all attendees.

Community breakfast

A Sunday Community Breakfast is scheduled for Feb. 7 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and the first Sunday of each month.

Breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage and accompaniments.

The cost for preschool children is $2, all others pay $4.

Four day Lenten Mission

"Sin, Conversion and the Call to Holiness: A Message of Divine Mercy" is the title of the four-day Lenten Mission to be directed by the Rev. Wade L. J. Menezes, Congregation of the Priests of Mercy, from Feb. 21 through 24 from 7 to 8 p.m.

Each evening from 7 to 8 p.m., the Lenten Mission content will consist of exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the Rev. Menezes' presentation and Benediction. Also each evening, confessions will precede the Lenten Mission from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and follow it from 8:15 p.m. to completion. The presentations will be as follows:

* Feb. 21 -- "By Which We Wound or Sever Our Relationship With God: The Nature of Sin and Its Consequences"

* Feb. 22 -- "Conversion: God Calling Us to Divine Intimacy"

* Feb. 23 -- "The Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation: God's Tribunal of Mercy"

* Feb. 24 -- "Mercy 'Lived': The Universal Call to Holiness"

The Rev. Menezes, CPM, is a member of the Fathers of Mercy, based in Auburn, Ky., with focus on preaching and presenting parish missions and retreats and assisting and staffing rural parishes. Since his ordination in 2000, he has served the congregation as director of vocations and director of seminarians. The Rev. Menezes also served as the chaplain-in-residence at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament of Our Lady of the Angels Monastery in Hanceville, Ala. Both the shrine and monastery are affiliated with the Eternal Word Television Network.

The Rev. Menezes has been a contributing writer to a number of publications, including National Catholic Register and Our Sunday Visitor. Several of his homiletic series have been published in the Homiletic and Pastoral Review, an international journal for priests. His presentations have been featured on radio stations of EWTN, Voice of Virtue International and Ave Maria Radio. He has been a guest on EWTN's Mother Angelia Live and Life on the Rock programs. He has hosted three television series for EWTN, covering topics such as the commandments of Catholic family living, that is, for husband and father; for wife and mother; of children and teens; and for those who struggle with scrupulosity. He is currently host of the EWTN series entitled The Crux of the Matter.

Evangelist, author
to speak

First Congregational Church Women's Fellowship invites the public to hear evangelist, writer and author Richard Mook, a resident of Mentor, at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 4.

Mook will discuss his book "From Grief to Glory" and the message of hope contained in Jeremiah 29:11. A $5 lunch will be offered following the program.
