Aurora — Looking for a “one-stop” place to find out information about a wide variety of golf activities in Northern Ohio?

Three area men soon will have a Web site up and running which should suppress avid golfers’ appetites for such info.

Aurora resident/scratch amateur golfer Larry Lahnan has teamed up with golf pro Bill Reilly of Stow and Jack Briggs of Bainbridge to launch Tee Off Ohio Golf.

They plan to introduce the Web site at the annual North Coast Golf Show from Feb. 19-21 at the IX Center in Cleveland.

The site will be available at www.teeoffgolfohio.com.

“We want to promote the game of golf in northern Ohio,” said Lahnan. “If the site proves to be successful, we hope to expand it into southern Ohio.”

Lahnan explained various golf facilities — courses, driving ranges, fitness centers, merchandise shops — have individual Web sites, but it’s sometimes difficult to find a lot of different information on one site.

The Web site will include a schedule of events such as tournaments, outings, charity fundraisers, demonstration days and seminars at various venues, plus news about tourney winners and holes-in-one.

He said the organizers already have amassed more than 300 events to list.

The site also will feature reviews of golf courses by members, perhaps a featured hole, listings of fitness programs and golf lessons, tips from area pros and sections for women and junior players.

Lahnan said the organizers hope to offer videotaped tips and lessons from 18 to 24 golf pros, discussions about rules of the game, contests with prizes, a listing of jobs available in the golf industry and a forum where golf gear can be sold, bought and/or traded.

The site will have a manned booth at the Cleveland golf show, and its grand prize will be a weekend stay and golf package at World Woods Golf Club in Florida.

Those who sign up as members will receive a coupon book entitling them to discounts at participating courses, equipment dealers, fitness facilities and resorts.

Lahnan said the Web site also may link up with booster clubs and golf outing promoters who want to sell the coupon books as a fundraiser. Golf courses and golf-related businesses also can become members, and Lahnan said nearly 50 have joined already.

“I’ve had this idea in my head for a couple of years,” Lahnan said. “I’m addicted to golf.”

Lahnan grew up in Erie, Pa., and moved to Aurora in 1996. He is on the board of the Northern Ohio Golf Association.

Reilly is the former pro at Aurora Golf Club and coaches the Walsh Jesuit girls team, while Briggs joked he loves to golf, but “shows the other aspects of the game” such as shots into the woods and hazards.
