JAMES R. 'POP-POP' ARMSTRONG
U.S. Navy veteran, Chapel Hill Church member
James R. Armstrong, 76, died Jan. 27, 2010.
Mr. Armstrong was born Oct. 2, 1933, in Akron to James and Celestia Armstrong. He graduated from Mogadore High School, served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Slawson Equipment as a sales engineer in 2002. He was a member of Chapel Hill Church for 45 years, where he served as an elder.
Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by grandsons, Shelby Morgan and Daniel Armstrong, and brother, Gary Armstrong. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jan; children, Jimmy (Carol) of Suffield, Vicki (Allen) Wilson of Wadsworth, Kim (Jim) Wright of Fairlawn; grandchildren, Katie, (Clifford), Aaron, Cory (Paige), Stacy, Joe, Cody, Marcy, Andrew; great-grandchild, Macy; and brother, Jack.
Memorial donations may be made to Chapel Hill Church, 1160 Howe Ave., Cuyahoga Falls 44221.
Donovan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
