Tallmadge's Mike Protich a finalist in cable songwriting contest Five Northeast Ohio musicians will compete throughout the month of February in a songwriting contest on Time Warner Cable's Local On Demand Channel 501. The contest is part of the NEON Network show "Random Acts of Music," a 30-minute show offering independent musicians a venue to be heard. To vote for a favorite song, Time Warner Cable customers can tune to Channel 501, scroll to the "Entertainment" category, then select "Random Acts Contest." Every time a video is played, that musician will earn a vote. There is no limit to voting, so viewers are encouraged to vote often. The contest runs through Feb. 28. The five finalists submitted original songs they had written and were chosen by a panel of professional musicians. The finalists include: Mike Protich of Tallmadge, Bob Buckridge of Canton, Jim Mileti of Cleveland; Desiree Boardwine of Streetsboro and Cara, a junior high school student from Wadsworth. The winner will star in his or her own music video, provided by Henry J. Productions, with a private video release party at the 356th Fighter Group Restaurant in North Canton. Other prizes include recording studio time and an acoustic guitar provided by Woody James Guitars. For more show information, visit www.randomactsofmusic.tv. Comments
