Jacob McWhirter Receives Racing Series Awards

November 26, 2007

November 2007 " Jacob McWhirter and the Victory Racing team attended year end award banquets for the Barberton Kart Racing Association and the Great Lakes Sprint Series.

Jake was crowned as the 2007 Barberton Kart Racing Association Cadet Junior Sportsman Champion after what can only be described as a dominating year. Jake raced eleven times at Barberton, winning nineteen of twenty two heat races, sitting on the pole ten times and claiming the checkered flag nine times. This follows Jake's 2006 rookie season when he finished in the runner-up position. In addition, his fellow drivers and crews voted him the most improved Cadet driver along with having the best appearing kart.

In the Kids 1st Series which brought Ohio and Pennsylvania's best Cadet drivers to Circleville Raceway, Barberton Speedway, Thompson Kart Raceway and the Beaverun Motorsports Complex, Jake sat on the pole three times. He finished the series with two wins and two second place runs.

In his first appearance in a World Karting Association Divisional (best four of five races) Jake finished in fourth place out of thirty one karts.

In his first attempt at a World Karting Association National (maximum thirty karts make the race), Jake made the race only to be caught up in a multi-kart wreck before completing one lap of the final.

In 2007 Victory Racing traveled to seven different tracks in three states. Jake took the green flag twenty two times. He finished with twelve pole awards, ten victories, three seconds and three fifths for sixteen podium finishes.

None of this could have been possible without the support, both monetarily and prayerfully, of our sponsors - Brown Derby Roadhouse, McWhirter & Associates, Polymer Valley Chemicals, Markernet"XS Energy Drink, Seckinger Insurance Agency, The Chapel, Tallmadge Collision and Redmon Funeral Home. To you we say, THANK YOU.
