Tallmadge -- On Dec. 8, a Northwest Avenue man told police he saw a man park a vehicle in front of his home around 11 p.m. and walk across the street. According to the report, several minutes later, he saw the man return to his vehicle carrying an unknown object. The next day the resident realized a pine tree, located among other trees and planted by the city along the roadside, was missing. The city was notified about the stolen tree. Cost to replace the tree was estimated at $200.
Theft
Dec. 8. Coat, cash removed from residence: A Washburn Road man told police sometime between 2 and 3 a.m., while he was hosting a party at his residence, someone removed a $300 leather coat and $27 cash.
Dec. 8. Antidepressants taken from woman's purse: An employee of a Southeast Avenue business told police sometime while she was at work, someone removed a bottle of antidepressants from her purse.
Criminal damage
Dec. 8. Mailbox damaged overnight: An Eric Drive woman told police sometime after 11 p.m., someone damaged her mailbox. Cost to fix or replace the mailbox was estimated at $200.
Domestic violence
Dec. 6. Man arrested for allegedly strangling girlfriend: Officers arrested a Tallmadge man and charged him with domestic violence after his girlfriend called police to report her boyfriend tried to choke her with a speaker wire and threw a coffee cup at her. According to the report, officers observed red marks on the woman's neck and face. The man was booked and later released with a court date. The woman refused to sign a temporary restraining order.
Aggravated possession of drugs
Dec. 4. Possession of powdered morphine leads to arrest: Police arrested a Stow man and charged him with aggravated possession of drugs after officers conducted a traffic stop at 1:20 a.m. on Northeast Avenue and discovered two small bags of powder on the passenger's side seat that tested positive for morphine.
