Tallmadge -- An employee of a Southwest Avenue business told police sometime between Dec. 24 and 27, someone cut the exhaust systems and removed the catalytic converters on four delivery vans parked in the lot. Cost to repair the vehicles was estimated at $4,350. Police are investigating.
Burglary
Dec. 26. Christmas gifts stolen from apartment: A North Thomas Road woman and her son told police someone entered their apartment and stole miscellaneous items valued at $150 and a $50 DVD player. According to the report, the woman said her door was either left unlocked, or someone used a credit card to gain entry. Items stolen included church donations and gifts from family.
Dec. 13. Flat screen TV, microwave removed from home: An Earnest Drive man told police someone entered his home between 5:30 and 6:23 p.m., removing his $2,000 flat screen TV and $250 microwave oven. According to the report, when the man came home he discovered his back door ajar. Marks were found in the wood near the door handle and on the door frame.
Breaking and entering
Dec. 26. Items stolen from business lot: A West Avenue business employee told police someone entered the company's rear lot between 7 p.m. Dec. 25 and 8:30 a.m. Dec. 26, removing $500 worth of chain link fence and wooden pallets valued at $60. Extra patrols were requested.
Theft
Jan. 7. Endcaps taken from vehicle: An employee of a West Avenue business told police sometime between 4 p.m. Jan. 5 and 9 a.m. Jan. 7, someone removed running board endcaps valued at $1,400 from a vehicle on the lot.
Jan. 4. Log splitter stolen from yard: A Southeast Avenue man told police sometime between 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., someone removed a $2,400 log splitter from the north side of his property. According to the report, the thief had to back a truck up to the splitter and hitch it to the truck before driving away.
Dec. 29. Items stolen from apartment, vehicle: A North Thomas Road woman told police someone entered her unlocked apartment between 8 a.m. and 4:15 p.m., removing her $200 digital camera. According to the report, items were removed from her locked vehicle as well, including a $250 CD player, a $10 radio installation kit and $7 cash. According to the report, no signs of forced entry were discovered on the vehicle.
Domestic Violence
Jan. 7. Man arrested for allegedly punching son: According to police, a Tallmadge man woke his teenage son up on Jan. 7 at 6:32 a.m. and began to yell at him for staying up too late the previous night. According to the report, the boy asked his father to stop yelling at him, at which time the man started punching his son in the head and face. The report stated after the father told his son to start getting ready for school, the yelling and hitting continued in the bathroom. A 15-year-old in the same apartment called police and the father left the apartment. The officers who responded to the call noticed visible swelling to the son's head and face. The man was arrested later that day at 10:05 a.m.
Jan. 4. Woman arrested for allegedly throwing phone at man: A Tallmadge man told police that he and a woman he lives with had a verbal argument over using the phone. The man said the woman threw her phone at him and began hitting him. The report shows the man's top lip was cut and he had scratches on the top of his head. The responding officers found the woman intoxicated when they arrived at 9:56 p.m. The woman then resisted arrest and would not give officers any form of identification when asked, according to the report. The woman was arrested and taken to the Summit County Jail. The man signed a domestic violence complaint against the woman and further charges for resisting arrest and obstructing official business.
Attempted Burglary
Jan. 4. Door broken in attempted break-in: A Stone Creek woman told police that an unknown person attempted to break into her home Jan. 4 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. by kicking in the front door. The report shows that entry does not appear to be gained due to a chain lock on the door. The woman told police that nothing was missing or broken, besides her door. The damage is estimated to cost $100. There are no current suspects at this time.
Criminal Damage
Dec. 26. Vehicle damaged: A Van Evera Road man told police sometime between 11 p.m. Dec. 25 and 6:17 p.m. Dec. 26, someone damaged the front left tire and keyed the left side of his vehicle while it was parked in his driveway. Damage was estimated at $650.
