Tallmadge -- On Jan. 14 a North Thomas Road man told police sometime between 3:30 p.m. Jan. 13 and 2:06 a.m. Jan. 14, someone entered his apartment and removed $2,000 worth of valuables and broke an $80 overhead light. Police are investigating.
Theft
Jan. 12. Man charged with allegedly taking beer from store: Police arrested an Akron man and charged him with theft after an employee of a Midway Plaza business told police she saw him remove an $18 12-pack of beer from the store without paying for it.
Jan. 11. Man charged with alleged theft of DVDs: Police arrested an Akron man and charged him with theft after an employee of a South Avenue business said he observed him remove seven DVDs valued at $110 from the store without paying for them.
Jan. 8. Pallets stolen from company lot: An employee of a West Avenue business told police sometime between 5 p.m. Jan. 7 and 8 a.m. Jan. 8, someone cut the frame to a metal gate located at the rear of the property, removing wooden pallets valued at $150 from inside. According to the report, this is the third recent theft to this business. Damage to the post was estimated at $20. Extra patrols were requested.
Criminal damage
Jan. 12. Bottle thrown through living room window: A North Thomas Road woman told police she was awakened at 4:45 a.m. by the sound of breaking glass. According to the report, she discovered a bottle had been thrown through her living room window. Damage was estimated at $300.
Jan. 11. Vehicle's tires slashed: A Stow man told police someone slashed his vehicle's tires while it was parked in the lot outside a West Avenue business. Damage was estimated at $150. Police are pursuing a lead.
