Theater alumni invited to attend May 2
production of 'Grease," after show party

Tallmadge High School teacher and theater director Frank Chaff invites everyone who has ever been involved in a high school theatrical production to attend the 8 p.m. May 2 presentation of "Grease."

"As new things come, we must, with great nostalgia, say goodbye to the old," said Chaff. "This year's musical, Grease, will be the final high school production in this building. Looking back over almost 40 years of plays and musicals, I thought of how nice it would be if we could gather one more time to enjoy a show together and reminisce about the old and not-so-old days."

Tables will be set up in the Les Bennett Center to display photos or any memorabilia theater alumni would like to share.

Chaff has made arrangements with Erie Station Grille for an after show party for those who'd like to gather and exchange stories.

Reservations for "Grease" may be made at playtickets@tallmadge.k12.oh.us or by calling the high school at 330-633-5505.

'Heritage Families' being sought by district

To identify those students and their families who should be recognized as a Tallmadge City Schools' "Heritage Family," Nancy Wack, community relations coordinator for the district, is asking Tallmadge High School alumni to call her office if they have a son, daughter or grandchild who will graduate this June with the Class of 2008.

This is the 15th year for the Heritage Family recognition and each year there is an increasing number of students whose parents or grandparents graduated from THS.

"It really says a lot about our schools and our community when our alumni choose to stay here or in many cases return here to raise and educate their children," said Wack.

To be added to the list of honorees, call Wack at 633-3291 ext. 8009.

PTSA offers flower
sale fundraiser

The Tallmadge High School PTSA is selling hanging baskets, flats and blooming flower pots just in time for Mother's Day. During the next two weeks, residents may place orders from a wide variety of flowers and colors available from Wise Greenhouse.

Order forms are available in all the school building offices. Flower pick-up will be May 10 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Tallmadge High School.

Hanging baskets are in l0-inch pots and cost $12. Several varieties are offered, including Tiny Toon petunia, New Guinea impatiens, ivy geranium, fuscia, nonstop begonia, Martha Washington geranium and bacopa. Dwarf dahlia, sweet potato vine, gerbera daisy, variegated ivy and verbena are among the varieties available in 4 1/2-inch pots at $3.50 apiece. Several varieties are available in full flats with 36 plants at $11. Flowers offered in flats include petunias, impatiens, bronze leaf and green leaf begonia, dianthus, vinca, marigolds, coleus and salvia, as well as pansies.

According to Tracy Grund, president of the high school PTSA, this is the first year the organization is sponsoring the spring flower sale.

"We are hopeful the flower fundraiser is received well by our school parents and residents in the Tallmadge community," Grund said. "PTA counts on one main fundraiser per year to generate the money needed to run our programs such as AfterProm, scholarships, senior yard signs, underwriting part of the cost of the Distinguished Scholars Brunch and other worthwhile programs for the students," she added. Grund said she would like the flower sale to be successful enough to become an annual event.

Completed order forms and payments should be sent to one of the schools marked "THS PTSA Flower Sale" or mailed to: Tallmadge High School, Attn: PTSA Treasurer, 484 East Ave., Tallmadge 44278. Checks should be made payable to THS PTSA. Order deadline is April 30.

Questions about the Spring Flower Sale should be directed to Grund at 330-633-2452 or to Karen Jeffery at 330-697-1258.
