of Akron to host
geranium sale
The Men's Garden Club of Akron will host its annual geranium sale May 9 and 10 in the parking lot of Fairlawn-West United Church of Christ, 2095 W. Market St., Akron. The sale, which the garden club has sponsored for many years, will again feature a large color variety of geraniums in 3-inch pots 5- to 7-inches tall ready for planting.
There are 18 plants per flat and the cost is $22 per flat.
The plants may be bought and picked up May 9 or 10, or they may be ordered in advance by contacting Men's Garden Club Chair Chet Lowry at 330-864-4328 or any club member.
The garden club has ordered 550 flats equaling 9,900 geraniums.
The Men's Garden Club of Akron was founded in 1937 and remains as one of the oldest clubs in America. Membership is open to men and women and new members are always welcome. The club meets monthly for a dinner/program at St. George Fellowship Centre, 3204 Ridgewood Road, Copley, at 5:30 p.m.
Projects include home landscaping for Habitat for Humanity, college scholarships, annual beautification awards for homes and businesses, big tree contest, plant and seed exchanges with members and gardening education. Business Women's Association to meet May 6
The American Business Women's Association, Summit Chapter, will meet at 6:30 p.m. May 6 at Tallmadge United Methodist Church, 207 N. Munroe Road.
