August 11 and 12, 2007 " Jacob McWhirter pulled double duty over the weekend as he drove the #7 Victory Racing Cadet Junior Sportsman at the Beaverun Motorsports Complex on Saturday and at Barberton Speedway on Sunday. On Saturday he raced in the final race of the Kids1st Series which featured a fifteen minute qualifying session utilizing a "hot pit", allowing the crew to work on the karts during the session. Jake qualified third. The prefinal found Jake moving up a position to start on the outside of the front row for the final. Jacob got a great start for the final and led in the early laps before losing the lead to the pole sitter. The remainder of the race found Jake chasing, but also trying to hold off the 3rd and 4th place karts who had hooked up in the draft to chase him down. With two laps to go Jake was passed at the end of the front straight, but then executed a classic crossover to reclaim the position in turn 1 and pulled away for a solid second place run. Jake was the only karter not from Beaverun on the podium. Jake finished the Kids1st series with two poles, two wins and two second place finishes.

On Sunday Jake was on the pole for the ninth time in ten races at Barberton Speedway. After winning both heats from the middle of the pack, Jake dominated the final on the way to his series leading ninth checkered flag. With three races still remaining at Barberton Speedway the win clinched the Cadet Junior Sportsman Series Championship.

The weekend was truly a success with races at two tracks in two states resulting in one pole, two heat wins, a second place finish and a checkered flag. Making it even more special for Jake was that his Grandpa and Grandma from New Jersey were able to watch him race for the first time.

Jake and Victory Racing are scheduled to race on Sunday of Labor Day weekend in the second night race of the year at Barberton Speedway. Racing begins at 3 p.m. with free admission to the grandstand. Come out and watch one of the fastest nine year olds in the country.

Victory Racing thanks their sponsors " Brown Derby Roadhouse, McWhirter & Associates, Polymer Valley Chemicals, Markernet"XS Energy Drink, Seckinger Insurance Agency, The Chapel and Redmon Funeral Home.
