Two Tallmadge Area Churches Angel Food Host SitesNovember 12, 2007
Angel Food Ministries of Ohio met at Paradise United Church of Christ on November 10, 2007 in Louisville, OH. This was a regional meeting of area Angel Food Ministries from Akron, Ravenna, Windham, Rootstown, Hartville, Hudson, Canton and two Tallmadge churches. There were fifty people in attendance including, Ron & Linda Caldwell, Jim & Lawana Partlow, Lois Rininger and Elizabeth Whetstone from First Church of God, 464 Northeast Ave. Tallmadge and several members of Tallmadge Church of the Nazarene, 191 S. Monroe Rd., Tallmadge. Pastor Dane Price and his wife Shawn from AFM Ohio were the speakers., There are new implementations in the works for AFM in Ohio and the rest of the nation. GPS units go into all the trucks that bring food to the drop sites (where we pick up our orders). The idea behind that is know where all the trucks are at any time and save on down time; have already started. There were many personal testimonies from all the host sites and some wonderful ideas to get the word out to our communities about Angel Food Ministries. There have been over 3,000,000 basic units shipped from Georgia to the rest of the United States this year.. In Ohio there are over 270 host sites (like First Church of God) and Tallmadge Church of the Nazarene with one new host site being added daily. This is one of the greatest community outreach programs and we are so proud to be a part of it serving our neighbors and friends. November's Menu ordering has already closed but; December's Menu ordering is open. To see the current and next month's menu on line go to: http://www.angelfood...s.com/ to find a host site near you, click on Host sites and choose a state (OHIO) and a city near you. Most host sites have a web site with more information about Ordering times and deadlines and Distribution dates and times of pick up. Generally, one unit of food assists in feeding a family of four for about one week or a single senior citizen for almost a month. The food is all the same high quality one could purchase at a grocery store. There are no second-hand items, no damaged or out-dated goods, no dented cans without labels, no day-old breads and no produce that is almost too ripe.
Angel Food Ministries, a non-profit, non-denominational organization, began in 1994 as a small outreach ministry serving a rural community in Georgia. The goal was to help neighbors who needed a hand up in a tough economic times.
