G&J Kartway, Camden, Ohio" Tallmadge resident Jacob McWhirter competed in the third race of the Great Lakes Sprint Series, a World Karting Association Divisional.

For the second race in a row Saturday's racing found Jake piloting the #7 Novus Clinic Cadet to a sixth place qualifying position while the #7 Polymer Valley Chemicals HPV came in with a fifth place spot in the field. Prefinal racing led to one spot being lost in Cadet. In HPV six positions were lost when a drafting partner spun Jake on the next to last lap. In the Cadet final Jake maintained position with a last lap pass that found Jake in side by side racing through the last five turns to finish seventh. The HPV final found Jake making up two spots to finish ninth.

Once again the Victory Racing team was able to host a representative from Skyview Ranch www.skyviewranch.org at the Chapel service before Sunday racing. Mr. Jeremy Hales, Executive Director of Skyview Ranch shared with the racers and crews how God has protected us since creation and continues to protect us today. The energetic message kept the crowd's attention and even attracted quite a few teams in the adjoining pits. It isn't everyday you hear the crack of bullwhip during a Sunday morning message.

Sunday racing began with Jake wheeling the Redmond Funeral Home Yamaha Sportsman to fourteenth and tenth place qualifying spots in Yamaha Light and Heavy. Before the Prefinals the sky opened and the call was made that racing would continue under wet conditions. Jake's smooth driving style has proven quite effective in the rain. He kept the kart out of trouble and heading in the right direction as he picked up seven spots in the Yamaha Light prefinal.. Jake was disappointed that the rain stopped and the sun came out before the Heavy prefinal, but Jake was still able to pick up two spots. In both the Light and Heavy finals Jake lost a spot, but still finished with an eighth in Yamaha Light and a ninth Yamaha Heavy.

As the team was loading up for the trip home they realized that this was the first weekend since Jake began running the regional and national series that he was running at the end of all the races. The weekend concluded with four top tens, overall his most successful weekend yet.

Jake's next race will be the third race of the World Karting Association Manufacturer's Cup at the Briggs and Stratton Motoplex at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

Jake thanks his awesome sponsors " AutoZone of Tallmadge, McWhirter & Associates, MMP/XS Energy Drinks, Novus Clinic, Polymer Valley Chemicals, Redmon Funeral Home, Seckinger Insurance Agency, Spring Valley Equestrian Center and The Chapel.
