Bennett set to play

in national tourney

Freshman Amanda Bennett is a member of the Walsh (Canton) University women’s basketball team that was scheduled to compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Tournament, which was set to begin March 10 in Sioux City, Iowa. Results were not available at press time.

Bennett, a 2009 Tallmadge graduate, was the school’s 2009 Athlete of the Year. She also is a member of Tallmadge’s Hall of Fame.

Cage fitness offered

Matt Hughes, a former mixed martial arts champion, has collaborated with group exercise innovators at Asian Sun Martial Arts to deliver cage fitness.

Cage fitness is a complete fitness system that is based on the structure of a championship MMA match. 

It gives people a total body workout and focuses on endurance, strength, power and core.

Cage fitness is designed for people of all fitness levels. 

An individual can customize his/her workout by adjusting the intensity level to best suit his/her personal fitness goals.

Each five-minute round incorporates both aerobic and anaerobic exercises that will not only help maximize burning fat, but also gaining muscle.

The system of training allows the participant to burn more calories while increasing one’s metabolism.

Cage fitness is broken up into five 5-minute rounds that are made up of timed segments within those rounds.

There is no contact in cage fitness or working with any partners.

Umpires needed

A training clinic for hardball, slow-pitch and fast-pitch softball umpires is scheduled to take place March 28 at the City of Streetsboro Parks & Recreation, which is located at 9184 State Route 43, from 1 to 5:30 p.m.

There is a $25 registration fee for the training clinic.
