Rev. Dr. George Hazlett
Ordained elder, Church of the Nazarene;
enjoyed John Deere tractors, restoring cars
The Rev. Dr. George Hazlett, 74, died Jan. 18, 2014.
Rev. Hazlett was born in Youngstown and lived in the area since 1990. He wrote articles for the Farm and Dairy News, his hobbies were John Deere Tractors and restoring cars. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Akron and his doctor of theology degree from IUIT Seminary in Orlando, Fla. Rev Hazlett was also an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene. He and his first wife, Myrna, were Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus in the area for 10 years.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Myrna A.; and a sister, Shirley Kreinbrook, Rev. Hazlett is survived by his wife, Jan Armstrong Hazlett; daughter, Karen A. (Keith) McLaughlin of Salem; sons, Paul R. Hazlett and Dale (Kristen) Hazlett both of Hartville; a sister, Nancy Kellgren of Boardman; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
