Donald W. Hope
World War II Army veteran, Our Lady of Victory member,
Donald W. Hope, 91, died April 27 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Hope was born and raised in Akron and graduated from West High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in France during World War II. Upon his discharge from the military, he attended trade school and became a journeyman carpenter. An avid Cleveland sports fan, Mr. Hope also enjoyed boating, camping and fishing, and attended various events involving his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a retired member of VFW Firestone Post 3383 and the Carpenter's Local 285 and was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Victory Parish.
Preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Mary Kathryn; parents; and brother, Glenn S. Hope, he is survived by his daughters, Janet (Stanley) Braman and Donna (Donald) Headrick; his grandchildren, Thomas (Julie) Headrick, Stephanie (Jeff) Sluzala, Michael Headrick, Joseph Headrick, and Sara Braman (Tony Osco); great-grandchildren, Brandon, Kathryn, Brady, Austin and Addison; and sister-in-law, Lillian Willgohs.
