Robert Fretz, 62, died May 21, 2014.

Born in 1951, Mr. Fretz has lived in Springfield Township for 22 years. He was retired from the city of Akron as a watershed ranger with over 30 years of service, worked as an Akron Reserve Police officer and instructor for the sociology department at Kent State University. He was an alumnus of Kent State University. He enjoyed gardening, antique radios, kayaking, camping, fishing and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife, Terese; parents, Paul and Nancy Fretz; and brother, Daryl Fretz, he is survived by his daughters, Amanda (Max) Sterling of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and Emily (Jason) Menefee of Reynoldsburg; grandchildren, Josef, Samantha, Benjamin and Eleanor; and sister Nancy (Fretz) Frame of Mogadore.

Memorial donations may be made to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife, Wildlife Central Office, 2045 Morse Road, Building G-1, Columbus, OH 43229-6693.

Donovan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
