Letter: Wonders if Thanksgiving is losing its meaning

Published:

Seems that I remember Thanksgiving as a time to count one’s blessings, give thanks to God for them and spend time with loved ones over a bountiful dinner.
Thankfulness, God, family and loved ones.
However, in recent years, I’ve been dismayed to see that for many people, Thanksgiving is nothing more than a day to camp out in long lines at the electronics store to purchase the latest gizmo or toy of the season. Black Friday is no longer just Friday — it has spilled over to Thanksgiving Day, and even earlier.
How sad.
