Twinsburg has attracted several recent events that have put a positive light on the community. The annual Twins Days event that annually draws national attention to the city, concluded last weekend and setting yet another record for participation by pairs of twins from around the country.
Upcoming in 2015, from July 1 to 5, to be precise, Twinsburg will host the Cost of Freedom -- American Veterans Traveling Tribute. The exhibit travels the nation to provide a forum for members of the community to come together to honor, respect and remember all those whom we have asked to stand in harm's way to protect and defend our great country and freedom as our way of life.
Robert Felber, member of the Cost of Freedom Steering Committee, tells us that a Freedom 5K Race & Memorial Mile Walk to Raise Funds for Cost of the Freedom Tribute is scheduled for Sept. 14. The host for the event, Twinsburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4929 will benefit from the race, with the money to be set aside for the 2015 presentation.
Participants will gather for packet pickup at Glenn Chamberlin Park (near the Twinsburg Community Center) 10260 Ravenna Road, Twinsburg, at 8:30 a.m. The event starts at 10:15 a.m. for walkers and 10:30 a.m. for 5K runners. Cost for the 1-mile walk: is $10 pre-registration and $15 on race day. The cost for the 5K run is $25 pre-registration and $30 on race day.

The deadline for online registration is Sept. 9. Participants who are pre-registered before Sept. 9 will receive a T-shirt.
Race tag timing will be provided by Champ Racing.
Felber says many sponsorship levels are available. Current Gold sponsors include Cleveland Clinic's Twinsburg Family Health and Surgery Center and South Pointe, University Hospitals, Ahuja Medical Center and the Procop/Esser family.

Area residents are asked to join with local veterans, police and fire departments, neighbors and friends for this fantastic special event. Fun for the entire family and residents from other communities are welcome. Post-race activities include military and safety forces vehicles, music, a balloon artist, chair massages, raffle baskets, snacks and more. Net proceeds from the event will be donated to VFW Post 4929 to assist in their commitment to bring the Cost of Freedom Tribute to Twinsburg.
Members of Twinsburg VFW Post 4929 are fortunate to be able to bring this event to Twinsburg. It goes without saying that there are considerable costs associated with bringing the exhibit to Twinsburg, related expenses, and promotion of the event.

Post 6768 Auxiliary Steak Roast/Raffle: Members of VFW Northfield Post 6768 Ladies Auxiliary will sponsor a steak roast/reverse raffle on Aug. 17, according to President Dawn Sherma. The event will be held in the post's pavilion, 5 to ?, with dinner served from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets, at $25 per person, are available at the canteen or from any member.
