Watch out, taxpayers. There are two changes, to Ohio taxes, that will affect your pocketbook. Effective Sept. 1, the state increased the sales tax rate from 5.50 percent to 5.75 percent. In Summit County, that will be a tax rate of 6.75 percent.
Regarding real estate taxes, the 10 percent and 2.5 percent rollback credit will be eliminated on new and replacement levies.
You will be required to pay 100 percent of levies approved by the voters instead of 87.5 percent.
This will affect some school issues presented in November.
