Seven girls attended a two-day American Red Cross Babysitter's Class at the Tallmadge Recreation Center Nov. 22 and 23. These future babysitter's learned the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children. The next class offering will be on March 28 and 29.

On Nov. 8, Troop 129 toured the Tallmadge Police Department to earn their Respect Authority patch. The tour was led by Officer Nate Ickes and Det. Stephanie Laughlin. The Daisies received a behind-the-scenes view of how the department operates from the detective bureau to the booking area.

It is heartbreaking to think of a child with no gifts on Christmas. The Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program provides gifts of new clothing and toys to thousands of children who otherwise might not have anything for Christmas.
Mancan Inc Staffing Agency is kicking off its sixth annual Coats for Kids campaign with a goal of collecting 3,000 coats. The program, a collaboration between the United Way and Mancan Inc.

Tallmadge Hair Service participated as a bra donation site for the seventh annual Celtic Club Fights Cancer campaign. The salon collected 171 bras for the breast cancer awareness event.

The Tallmadge High School social Studies Department hosted the annual Veterans Breakfast which took place Nov. 4 at the school. Thirty five veterans attended the breakfast where the THS show choir performed the Star-Spangled Banner and Taps.
Children participating in the Henry Bierce Co.-sponsored Little Builders group designed and decorated this tree which will be donated to Akron Children's Hospital for its annual Holiday Tree Festival, which takes place Nov. 19 through 27 at the John S. Knight Center, 77 E. Mill St., Akron.
