The Tallmadge Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1955 for the purpose of advancing and developing the commercial, industrial, civic, cultural and general interests of the city of Tallmadge and its trade area.
In 2014, the organization is led by Executive Director Mary Cea and President Bruce Beckwith.
Officers are Mike Carter, vice president — Cheryl Ray, treasurer — Frank Salamone, secretary — and Jim West, past president.
The chamber office is situated inside the Tallmadge Community Center, located at 80 Community Road.
Membership comprises about 200 businesses, including manufacturing, retail and service and professionals. Members are entitled to a variety of benefits and savings, such as health care insurance and workers compensation.
Every other year the Chamber hosts a Community Expo. The next is scheduled for spring of 2015.
Each year, Chamber awards several scholarships to deserving young persons entering college. Chamber also sponsors the mayor’s “State of the City” address, Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast, Business of the Year and Humanitarian awards, Circle Festival and Santa at the Community Center. Monthly general membership breakfasts/luncheons are scheduled on the third Wednesday of each month, and after-hours networking, “Live After Five,” events take place throughout the year.
Chamber publishes a bi-monthly newsletter, which is mailed to approximately 400 businesses in the Tallmadge area.
