Charles and Arlene "Babe" (Labay) Davis of Tallmadge celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in February.
The couple was married Feb. 6, 1954, at the High Street Church of Christ in Akron.
The couple has three children -- Jeffrey and Cynthia Ballway of Tallmadge, Jerry and Cheryl Still of Stockbridge, Ga., and Paula Scaglione of Tallmadge; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Charles was employed by Johnny's Auto and Truck Towing and Crane Service Inc. in Akron for 60 years. He ran the crane service for more than 30 years.
Arlene was also employed by Johnny's Auto and Truck Towing and Crane Service for 63 years. She started working when she was able to drive a wrecker at 16. Her parents, John and Pauline Labay Sr., founded Johnny's Towing company in 1926. This year the company will mark 88 years of service.
A surprise party to celebrate Charles and Arlene's Diamond Anniversary took place Feb. 15 at the Tallmadge Community Center where approximately 200 guests attended. The party was hosted by the couple's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
