Tallmadge girls cagers open with win as Rice breaks assists record

The Tallmadge girls basketball team got off to good start Nov. 27, as the Blue Devils defeated Streetsboro 39-29 at home.

Junior point guard Kelsey Rice finsihed with six points and nine assists in the win. With her second assist of the night, Rice broke the school record for assists in a career. 2009 graduate Amanda Bennett previously held the record with 250.

Tallmadge's defense led the way to the win, as the Blue Devils forced 27 Streetsboro turnovers, including 17 steals.

Kirsten Lightel and Mary Ryan led the Blue Devils with nine point each.

Streetsboro was led by 10 points and six rebounds from junior Marra Woods.
