The Tallmadge boys bowling team finished 13th with a score of 3,184 at the 17-team Youngstown State University Holiday High School Tournament Dec. 29.
The tournament consisted of three regular games and five baker games.
The Blue Devils bowled a three-game total of 2,423 and had a baker total of 761.
Ryan DeBord had the high series (151-187-178) for Tallmadge and Brendon Haven was next (138-187-181). Andre Gilles had the high game (192). He also rolled games of 138 and 181, respectively.
The Blue Devils were the runners-up at the Christmas Invitational Tournament Dec. 28 at Midway Lanes in Akron. Tallmadge lost to Fairport Harding in the championship.
The Blue Devils advanced to the championship with wins over second-seeded Struthers and fourth-seeded Green. The series with Green featured three 200-plus baker games (216, 214 and 246).
Tallmadge finished with a school-record three-game series of 3,003 to advance to the baker playoffs. The Blue Devils finished fifth out of the top eight advancing teams with baker games of 209, 225, 234, 164 and 169.
Nick Krainess set a school record with a 747 series (245-247-255). Also faring well for Tallmadge were Ryan DeBord (193-168-237), Kody Stauffer (168-184-207) and Haven (172-198-184).
Tallmadge was scheduled to compete in the Black Tiger Classic Jan. 5 at Legend Lanes in Cuyahoga Falls. Results were not available at press time.
The Blue Devils are set to compete against Akron Kenmore Jan. 7 at Fast Lanes before heading to Midway Lanes to face Walsh Jesuit. Both matches are scheduled to take place at 4:15 p.m.
