Tallmadge boys bowlers beat Walsh; place second at Black Tiger Classic

The Tallmadge boys bowling team improved to 5-2 on the season with a 2,410-2,360 victory over Walsh Jesuit Jan. 9 at Midway Lanes in Akron.

Nick Krainess had the high series (443) with games of 230 and 213, respectively..

Brendon Haven had the high game (237). He also bowled a 198.

Also rolling two games for the Blue Devils were Kody Stauffer (170-162), Ryan DeBord (186-136), Jeremy Krainess (194) and Andre Gilles (142).

Tallmadge earned a convincing 2,024-1,651 victory over Akron Kenmore at Fast Lanes in Barberton.

Nick Krainess led the way for the Blue Devils with scores of 186 and 187, respectively. Haven had the high game for Tallmadge with a 188 and Gilles rolled a 182 game.

The junior varsity team lost a 1,267-1,250 decision. Jeremy Krainess (146-165) led the Blue Devils.

Tallmadge also finished second with a score of 4,291 at the 2013 Black Tiger Classic Jan. 5 at Legend Lanes in Cuyahoga Falls.

Green won the 20-team competition with a score of 4,470 and Brunswick (4,243) finished third.

The Blue Devils were in fifth place at the end of three games. Tallmadge moved up three spots, thanks to its performance in the baker games.

The Blue Devils set school records for three-game series (3,019) and six-game baker series (1,272).

Nick Krainess finished second overall with a three-game series of 711 (237-258-216) and was named to the all-tournament team.

Also competing for Tallmadge were Stauffer (225-204-216), DeBord (205-158-204), Haven (195-181-183) and Jeremy Krainess (214).

The Blue Devils were scheduled to bowl against Wadsworth Jan. 12 at Midway Lanes in Akron. Results were not available at press time.

They are set to roll against Ellet Jan. 16 at Turkeyfoot Lanes in Akron and Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Jan. 18 at Midway Lanes. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m.
