Children's Cheer Classic
scheduled for Jan. 27
More than 700 athletes are scheduled to compete in the Children's Cheer Classic Jan. 27 at the John S. Knight Center in Akron with all proceeds benefiting Akron Children's Hospital's Reach Out and Read Program.

Participating teams have gathered more than 60,000 gently used books for the program, which makes books available to children in the waiting rooms of 14 Akron Children's Hospital Physician Associate offices as well as the Locust Pediatric Care Group office.
In 2010, American Elite All-stars of Ohio Inc., the organizer of the Children's Cheer Classic, was named a Reach Out and Read Champion of the Year.
High school, middle school, recreational and all-star cheer and dance teams are expected compete in the Children's Cheer Classic, which is set to run from 9 a.m. through 4 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for those aged 12 and younger. Children, ages 3 and younger, are admitted free.
