Tallmadge girls basketball team rolls past Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy

The fourth-seeded Tallmadge girls basketball team advanced to a Division II sectional championship game.

The Lady Blue Devils earned a date with fifth-seeded Cleveland St. Martin de Porres after posting a 55-36 win over Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Feb. 20 at Nordonia High School in Macedonia.

Tallmadge concluded the first half with a 10-0 run to take a 23-14 lead. The Lady Blue Devils built their lead to 19 (40-21) at the end of three quarters and cruised the rest of the way.

Leah Makuch had a perfect night for Tallmadge. She converted all seven of her shots and made all six of her foul shots en route to a team-high 20 points.

Mary Ryan finished with 15 points for Tallmadge and teammate Hallie Allen added 12 points. Allen knocked down a trio of three-pointers.

Ashley Tyna scored a game-high 22 points for the Lady Royals (8-15).
