Six Tallmadge swimmers concluded their season at a Division II district meet, which concluded Feb. 16 at Cleveland State University Robert F. Busbey Natatorium.
The boys 400-yard freestyle relay team of Michael Kenny, Andrew Wilk, Joey Sincel and Raymond Riter set a team record with a 14th-place time of 3 minutes, 36.37 seconds. Kenny, a senior, and Sincel each had a split of 52.81 seconds to set a team record.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Kenny, Wilk, Riter and Sincel also set a team record with a 17th-place time of 1:38.26. Riter added a 30th (24.66) in the 50 freestyle.
"Three new team records in five races," Tallmadge first-year head coach Ryan Miller said. "
Joey Sincel posted a jaw-dropping time of 52.81 in the third leg after Michael Kenny swam the same split. Raymond Riter was able to bounce back out of a bad turn and still manage a 24 in his 50."
Brittany DiFiore, a senior, will leave quite a legacy.
She is the first four-time district qualifier in team history. She finished 16th in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.39).
"Brittany, along with Michael Kenny, have truly set high expectations for
our program and left their mark," Miller said.
Sage Luedke placed 23rd in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.94).
"Sage Luedke dropped almost two seconds in her individual event and continues to amaze me," Miller said.
Miller believes the future is bright for both the boys and girls' teams.
"We are a young team that has consistently gotten better over the years," he said. "We just need more athletes to get to the next level."
