The Tallmadge boys bowling team finished second with a score of 3,987 at a Division II sectional tournament Feb. 16 at Midway Lanes in Akron.
Walsh won the title with a score of 3,995.
As a result of their performance, the Blue Devils advanced to the district competition, which is set to take place Feb. 24 at Crest Lanes in Warren. Bowling is scheduled to begin at noon. Also qualifying were Cuyahoga Falls, Akron Archbishop Hoban and Green.
Senior Nick Krainess, who qualified for district play for the fourth time in his career, had the high series (610). He rolled games of 192, 214 and 204, respectively. Senior Ryan DeBord, a two-time district qualifier, had the high game (265). He also rolled a 176. Also bowling for Tallmadge were Brendon Haven (199-199-189), senior Kody Stauffer (203-171-211), a two-time district qualifier, and Andre Gilles (194-213-155).
Tallmadge junior bowler Madison Stock advanced to a Division I district tournament.
Stock rolled games of 144, 177 and 204, respectively, to advance. The Lady Blue Devils bowling team finished fifth out of 16 teams with a score of 3,308 at a sectional tournament, which took place Feb. 16 at Roseland Lanes in Oakwood Village.
Green (3,492), Akron Springfield (3,456), Walsh Jesuit (3,363) and Akron Coventry (3,350) advanced.
Also bowling for Tallmadge were Jennie Kiss (162-163-199), seniors Abby Collins (178-122-186) and Nicole Kreitzburg (176-134-156) and Annie Drechsler (135-124-139).
