Tallmadge High School recently honored some of its members of its 2000 and 2001 classes during the boys basketball team's regular-season finale Feb. 22 at James O. Maddox Court.
The Tallmadge Hall of Famers who attended the game were Paul Brownlee, Dave Young, Rick Hutchinson, Randy Caipen, Larry Bagnoli, Kim Young-Harper and Donny Rossiaky, who represented his late father, Tom Rossiaky.
They were recognized during the dedication of a new Athletic Hall of Fame Case at Tallmadge High School.
"Some of the old plaques were broken or had water damage," Tallmadge athletic director Don Seeker said. "We had a total of 15 people in two classes. We mailed out the other plaques."
Seeker had some fond memories of some of the Hall of Fame athletes during the ceremony.
"It was a wonderful night," he said. "They got a standing ovation. When I was 7 or 8 years old and my dad was taking me to football and basketball games, these guys were gods. They were bigger than life. They were the reason I wanted to be a Blue Devil."
Seeker said the school plans to add five or six members to the Tallmadge Hall of Fame every other year or every three years.
"We have 90 now and we have room for 75 more," he said.
