Resident fares well at state tournament
Tallmadge resident Edward Suber IV wrestles for the Akron Gladiators youth team.
He competed in the Ohio Athletic Committee Junior High School State Championship, which concluded March 10 at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown.
Edward, 11, competed with the top 64 sixth- through eighth-grade wrestlers in the 74-pound weight class and placed in the top eight. Edward is in the sixth grade at Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts. Edward also placed second at the Ohio Youth Wrestling Association state tournament this year and is currently a four-time national champion.
Makuch to play hoops
Tallmadge senior forward Leah Makuch is scheduled to play on the Medina/Suburban team in the Women's Tri-County Basketball Coaches Association All Star game, which is set to take place March 18 at Barberton High School. Game time is 6 p.m.
