The Tallmadge boys golf team earned a 326-342 victory over Western Reserve Academy Aug. 14 at Raccoon Hill Golf Course in Kent.
Chris Koza led the Blue Devils with a score of 75.
Also contributing to Tallmadge's team score were Mike Mosholder (81), Zach Mosholder (82) and Nick Genovese (88).
The Blue Devils (3-0) finished in 10th place with a score of 341 at the 21-team Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Aug. 12 at Silver Lake Country Club.
Walsh Jesuit won the competition with a 311 and Canton Central Catholic took second with a 313. Hudson, Aurora and Chagrin Falls tied for third with a 323.
Walsh's Chase Johnson was the medalist with a 69. Zach Mosholder finished in a tie for seventh with a 78 to lead Tallmadge.
Koza (83), Nate Bickar (89) and Mike Mosholder (91) also contributed for the Blue Devils.
Tallmadge, the defending three-time Suburban League champion, placed second at the Suburban League Pre-Season Golf Tournament Aug. 8 at Good Park Golf Course in Akron.
The Blue Devils finished with a score of 323.
Green won the eight-team competition with a score of 317 and Highland placed third (328).
"I've often said that you can't win the title at the preseason tournament, but you can lose it," Tallmadge head coach Jon Shomo said.
"We did not lose it. We're still in good shape in the league race going forward.
"If we take care of business in our dual matches, we will go back to Good Park in late September with a great chance of winning the championship."
Nordonia's Brett Brown shot a 74 to earn medalist honors. Zach Mosholder finished in a tie for second with a 75 to lead the Blue Devils. Koza wasn't far behind with a 76. Rounding out the team scores were Mike Mosholder (85) and Bickar (87).
Tallmadge was scheduled to play the Gran Classic at Seven Hills Country Club Aug. 16 in Hartville. Results were not available at press time. The Blue Devils are set to host league rival Revere Aug. 22 at Maplecrest Golf Club in Kent. Play is scheduled to begin at 3:10 p.m.
