Less than a week into the 2013 season, the Tallmadge girls soccer team has already exceed its win and goal total from 2012.
Following its 7-2 win over Massillon Perry Aug. 24, Tallmadge scored a 2-1 at Cuyhahoga Falls Aug. 26 in come-from-behind fashion.
Tallmadge improved to 2-0 after scoring only one win all of last season. Falls dropped to 1-3.
Falls started the game well. In the third minute, Emily Gall sent a corner kick into the box, which sweeper Karleigh Zeiszler headed into the net to make it 1-0.
However, Tallmadge seemed to take control of the game from there. The Blue Devils equalized in the 44th minute, when Sammy Williams ran onto a through ball from Eryn Gebacz and put it into the net.
Two minutes later, Tallmadge took the lead when Rochelle Haught was fouled in the box. Jacquelyn Brown took the penalty kick and smashed it into the net.
Tallmadge finishes with a 12-9 advantage in shots on goal.
Falls goalie Kennedy Wittman had 10 saves, while Tallmadge's Lynn Tucci had nine.
