The Tallmadge boys cross country team placed 12th with 367 points at the Boardman Spartan Invitational Sept. 14 in Youngstown.
Olentangy Liberty won the 38-team competition with a score of 111 points and Boardman (147) and Louisville (150) finished second and third, respectively. Louisville won a tiebreaker over Alliance.
Boardman's Mark Hadley edged out Chardon's Nick Ellswick for first place. Hadley ran a time of 15 minutes, 7.8 seconds and Ellswick finished in 15:08.7. A total of 326 runners participated in the Division I varsity race.
Patrick Ferguson led the Blue Devils with a 14th-place time of 16:24.7. Brian McGovern was next for Tallmadge in 38th (16:46.9).
Rounding out the top five for the Blue Devils were Chris LaMancusa (70th, 17:16.4), Nick Murray (121st, 17:49.6) and A.J. Zesiger (129th, 17:52.2).
