It seemed likely the reign would end.
The Tallmadge golf team did not win the Suburban League Pre-Season Tournament in August and it lost two matches during the regular season.
If the Blue Devils were going to win their fourth consecutive outright Suburban League championship, they needed to win the Postseason Tournament and get some help.
Amazingly enough, Tallmadge got just that.
The Blue Devils won the eight-team Suburban League Postseason Tournament with a score of 318 Sept. 25 at J. Edward Good Park Golf Course in Akron.
Revere finished second with a score of 328 and Highland took third (333).
Green, which won the Pre-Season Tournament, finished fifth with a 343. Highland won the regular-season title with an 7-0 record.
As a result, Tallmadge won the overall title with 59 points and Highland captured second with 58 points. Revere earned the bronze medal with 48.5 points.
Zach Mosholder led the Blue Devils with a 74 to earn medalist honors. Chris Koza was next for Tallmadge with a 79.
Rounding out the team scoring were Mike Mosholder (81) and Nate Bickar (84).
Zach Mosholder and Koza earned first-team all-league honors. Mike Mosholder was named to the second team and Bickar received honorable mention.
It was the Blue Devils' eighth Suburban League title since 1998.
