Tallmadge girls basketball team suffers first loss

The Tallmadge girls basketball team fell to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the Suburban League after losing a 43-30 decision to Revere Dec. 4 in Richfield.

Trailing 7-4, the Lady Minutemen (3-1, 1-0) concluded the first quarter with a 10-2 run and never lost their advantage the rest of the way.

Both teams struggled offensively, particularly in the second quarter. Revere outscored the Lady Blue Devils 4-2 in the period to take a 14-11 lead at halftime.

The Lady Minutemen took control in the third quarter when they outscored Tallmadge 16-9. Revere had a 34-20 advantage heading into the final eight minutes.

Revere's 6-foot-1 post player, Caitlin Vari, led all scorers with 18 points. The Lady Minutemen got buzzer-beating three-pointers in the first quarter (Camryn Brown) and third quarter (Emily Brock).

Mary Ryan led the Lady Blue Devils with 11 points. Tallmadge shot 9 of 47 from the floor.
