Tallmadge boys basketball team holds off Copley

The Tallmadge boys basketball team improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Suburban League after earning a 55-52 victory over Copley Dec. 10 on the road.

The Indians (0-6, 0-2) had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but Brandon Chillious' three-point attempt from the top of the key found iron as the buzzer sounded.

The Blue Devils took a 55-52 lead when Colten Stricker canned two free throws in a one-and-one situation with 18.4 seconds left.

Stricker was able to get to the line, thanks to Tallmadge's defense.

With the Blue Devils leading 53-52 with approximately 20 seconds left, Anthony Miller deflected a Copley pass that ended up in the hands of Andrew Francesconi.

Stricker finished with a game-high 28 points for the Blue Devils. He had 17 points in the first half and made 9 of 11 shots from the foul line. Franceseconi added 12 points.

Chillious and Larnell Nealy led Copley with 15 points and Todd Williams added 11 points for the Indians.

Tallmadge lost a 66-50 decision in the junior varsity contest.
