Tallmadge wrestlers fall to Suburban league powers

The Tallmadge wrestling team fell to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the Suburban League after losing to Nordonia and Wadsworth Dec. 19 in Wadsworth.
The Blue Devils lost a 62-15 decision to the Knights and a  53-9 decision to the Grizzlies.
Tallmadge’s lone double winner on the night was junior heavyweight Ben Cipa. Cipa used his 6-foot-9 frame to perfection as he threw Wadsworth’s Jeremy Randolph onto his back in third period and scored the pin at 5 minutes, 35 seconds.
Against Nordonia’s Brandon Rem, Cipa used his height and weight advantage to overpower the Knight senior and pin him in 3:59.
Against Wadsworth, the Blue Devils’ only other win came from 220-pounder Jacob Lahtonen, who scored a 4-2 win over Kyle Green.
Against the Knights, junior 106-pounder Terrell Grant got the win in a back-and-forth match with Nordonia’s Cam Duvall. Grant turned Duvall onto his back in the third period to earn a 10-5 win.
Blue Devils’ 195-pounder Travis Darago picked up a forfeit win against Nordonia.
