Tallmadge competes at Nordonia Classic

The Tallmadge boys bowling team placed ninth with a score of 3,254 at the 17-team Nordonia Knights Classic Dec. 15 at Roseland Lanes in Oakwood Village.

Green won the competition with a score of 3,827 and Nordonia (3,725) and Olmsted Falls 'B' (3,713) placed second and third, respectively.

Brendon Haven led the Blue Devils with scores of 222, 220 and 180, respectively.

Also contributing for Tallmadge were Andre Gilles (192-197-183), Dan Speelman (222-166-143), Austin Moore (157-202-144) and Jeremy Krainess (164-173).

The Lady Blue Devils finished sixth out of 10 teams with a score of 2,973. North Olmsted easily won the competition with a score of 3,715 and Nordonia (3,082) and Green (2,996) finished second and third, respectively.

Jennie Kiss set three records for Tallmadge. She rolled games of 244, 193 and 193, respectively.

Her 244 is a school record for one game and her two-game total (437) and three-game total (630) also were records.

Madison Stock (139-155-192) and Brooke Collins (120-132-152) were next for the Lady Blue Devils.

Both teams also competed at the 12-team Lake Invitational Tournament Dec. 14 at Eastgate Lanes in Akron.

The boys finished with a score of 2,325. Ellet won the competition (final team scores were not available at press time).

Krainess (201-205) led the way for Tallmadge and Moore (168-165) and Gilles (155-164) also fared well for the Blue Devils.

The girls placed seventh out of nine teams with a score of 1,903. Kiss (166-179) led the way for Tallmadge.

The boys improved to 2-1 in the Greater Summit Conference with a 2,506-2,495 victory over Wadsworth Dec. 12 at Charger Lanes in Norton.

The Blue Devils bowled games of 933 and 959, respectively. The Grizzlies posted scores of 1,029 and 949.

But Tallmadge won the match, thanks to its performances in the baker games. The Blue Devils earned 256-176 and 209-184 wins. Wadsworth won the other baker game 157-149.

Haven led Tallmadge with scores of 222 and 224, respectively. Krainess had the high game (248) for the Blue Devils. He also bowled a 203. Rounding out the top four for the Blue Devils were Gilles (180-177) and Moore (180-154).

The girls lost a 2,176-1,979 decision to Wadsworth Dec. 12 at Charger Lanes in Norton.

Anna Chionchio led the Lady Blue Devils with scores of 227 and 143, respectively. Stock (158-192) and Kiss (142-182) were next for Tallmadge. Also faring well for the Lady Blue Devils was Annie Drechsler (144-171).

Both teams were scheduled to bowl against Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary Dec. 20 at Riviera Lanes in Fairlawn. Results were not available at press time.

They are set to compete at the X-mas Invitational Dec. 26 at Midway Lanes. Bowling is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
